Level 11: Xanthar’s Outer Sanctum, Lower Reaches

On this level you’ll find the Mind Flayers and Xorn. Mind Flayers have a psionic attack that can paralyze the entire party. They’re also almost entirely resistant to spells. Try to attack the flanks with ranged and melee attacks. Xorn are powerful creatures but move slowly. They’re resistant to some spells.

1) This level is accessed by dropping down the pit on Level 10 #41.

2) An inscription on the west wall reads “Your fate lies in the stars.”

3) The Portal on the west wall is activated by the Stone Holy Symbol. It teleports you to Level 7 #67.

The central area of this level is part of the Celestial Stars of Navigation. There are Buttons on the walls that progressively open up different parts of this level.

4) Button for the Celestial Star of Navigation.

5) The message reads “Leave no stone unturned.”

6-9) Buttons for the Celestial Star of Navigation.

10) Mossy Rock.

11) A message on the south wall reads “Alignment must be true.”

12) Just a regular door.

13) Use a Drow Key on the keyhole to open the door to the west.

14) A +4 Long Sword named Slasher and +3 Banded Armor.

15) Non-Magical Ring.

16) Regular door. No keys needed.

17) A Secret Button on the south wall opens up a passage to the south.

18) Use a Drow Key to open the door to the south where you’ll find two Xorn.

19) A Mind Flayer guards a Portal. Use a Stone Orb to activate it. This Portal takes you to Level 12 #1.

20) A Secret Button on the west wall opens the passage to the west.

21) Mind Flayer.

22) Mind Flayer.

23) Wand of Lightning Bolt.

24) When you step here your party is teleported to #31.

25) Your party is teleported here from #28.

26) Your party is teleported here from #35.

27) Mage Scroll of Hold Monster.

28) Your party is teleported here from #25.

29) Your party is teleported here from #33.

30) When you step here your party is teleported to #34.

31) Your party is teleported here from #24.

32) When you step here your part is teleported to #36.

33) When you step here your party is teleported to #29.

34) Your party is teleported here from #30.

35) When you step here your party is teleported to #26.

36) Your party is teleported here from #32.

37) Luckstone Medallion and a Cleric Scroll of Raise Dead.

38) A regular door. No keys needed.

39) The east wall has levers all along it. Move up and down the hall setting all the Levers to the up position. Some of them will flip back down but continue flipping them back up. Once you’ve done this a Wand of Frost will appear in the shelf at #40.

40) Dwarven Potion of Healing that must be taken back to the Dwarves on Level 5 to awaken the Dwarven King. A Wand of Frost will appear here once #39 is complete.

41) Cleric Scroll of Cure Serious Wounds.

42) Three Xorn.

43) Cleric Scroll of Raise Dead and a Mossy Rock.

44) Seven Xorn patrol the maze between #44 and #45.

45) Xorn patrol this area.

46) An inscription on the south wall reads “Room of the Key.”

47) A Secret Button on the west wall opens a passage to the west.

48) Stone Orb Portal Key and a Drow Key.

49) A regular door.

50) One Mind Flayer.

51) A message on the east wall reads “Chwat”.

52) A Secret Button on the west wall opens a passage to the south.

53-54) Mind Flayers.

55) A Secret Button on the south wall opens a passage to the south.

56) The Orb of Power.

57) One Mind Flayer and a Drow Key.

58) Mind Flayer.

59) The Stone Holy Symbol and a Mind Flayer.

60) Here you’ll find the bones of the Mage Kirath. There’s also a Spell Book, +2 Bracers of Defense, +2 Ring of Protection, +5 Dagger called Flicka and a Robe of Protection +5.
