Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is an action RPG based on the story of two ghost hunters in New Eden, 1965. Banishers was developed by DON’T NOD and published by Focus Entertainment in Feb 2024. It’s received very positive reviews and is described as having superb writing, engaging stories and a lore-rich world.

DON’T NOD studio have preciously worked on the Life is Strange and Vampyr titles. They have brought their past experience into creating an exhilarating journey of life and death.

The two Banishers you’ll be playing as are called Red and Antea. They are spirit hunters with the task of removing curses and protecting the living from ghosts and specters. Things take a turn for the worse when Red is killed and you’re faced with the decision to ascend her or try to bring her back.

Banishers takes time for the story to develop but will draw you in as you progress. It takes place over beautiful landscapes that you can explore at your leisure. The voice acting is great and the game seems to play without any bugs or crashes right from release.

Banishers: New Eden will take anywhere from 20 to 40 hours to complete depending on whether you want to explore every nook and cranny or just complete the main story. It’s narrative heavy with fantastic acting so it’s a brilliant game to enjoy if you love RPGs. The missions aren’t repetitive and the gameplay is solid.

Overall Banishers: New Eden is a fun action role-playing game through some beautiful scenery as you explore the realms of the living and the dead. It won’t win game of the year but it runs smoothly without glitches or bugs and has an engaging story to keep you entertained.
