Space Hulk Deathwing ReleaseSpace Hulk: Deathwing is set to be released on December 9, 2016 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Space Hulk: Deathwing is a first-person tactical shooter adapted from the Space Hulk boardgame and set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Preorders are currently available on Steam for the Beta version which comes with a 15% discount and unique weapon, the Lost Mace of Corswain.

Deathwing has been developed with the Unreal Engine 4 and can be played as either a solo campaign or co-op with up to 3 of your friends. You control a Librarian from the Deathwing part of the Dark Angels Chapter. You can fit out your squad with numerous weapons and skill them up as you progress with the campaign.

Classes

Apothecary – A Space Marine with healing abilities and medikits. In the solo campaign an apothecary called Brother Nahum will join you.

Librarian – A Space Marine with psychic battle powers such as shockwave, chain lightning, spontaneous combustion and lion’s shadow.

Heavy Weapons Specialist – As the name suggests they focus on using heavy weapons such as the assault cannon and plasma cannon.

Assault Specialist – Focuses on melee combat and uses weapons such as hammers, maces and lightning claws.

Tactical Specialist – One of the elite Space Marines who can resurrect fallen brothers.

Solo Campaign

The solo campaign for Space Hulk: Deathwing has been co-written by Gav Thorpe, renowned Black Library author. It features a twisting narrative that will send you through the Space Hulk Olethros. Along the way you’ll be helped by two Space Marine Brothers, Barachiel as you Heavy Support and Nahum as your Apothecary. You’ll be able to issue commands to them such as guarding an area, sealing a door or follow you.

The solo campaign has four difficulty settings. From easiest to hardest they are: Disciple, Chapter Champion (normal), Lion’s Sword and No Mercy. As a Librarian you’ll have access to psychic abilities that you can unlock along the way.

Co-op

All of the missions in the solo campaign are playable as co-op with up to four people. You’ll be able to host your own game or join one of the servers. A ‘QuickMatch’ option will put you straight into an available game. As in the solo campaign you can choose a difficulty level and friendly fire can either be turned on or off. Hopefully once the Beta version has been released we’ll see more missions and chapters designed specifically for multiplayer mode.
