Chapter 5 – Mobility Gels

This level introduces Mobility Gel which can be used to jump higher or run faster. Blue gel helps you to bounce and orange gel makes you run faster. Place portals to get up onto the ledge and press the button to release the gel. Blue steps on the red button to lower the platform while Orange jumps from the gel onto the platform. Raise the platform so Orange can reach the ledge to push the next button which releases more gel.
Orange drops down and gets back onto the first ledge. Use the gel to jump up to the next platform. Ride it to the top. Place the second portal so Blue can come through as well and go through the exit.

Place a portal under the gel dispenser and the other on the sloped panel near the roof. Press the red button to release the gel and then Orange can bounce off the gel onto the ledge. Blue will need to stay here to release the gel.
Orange places a portal at the end of the funnel and then on one of the platforms down below. Blue places the second portal on the side wall and then releases the gel. The goal is to splash gel on the two platforms down below. Move the funnel around until the platforms are covered in gel.
Orange, or the player with the funnel, needs to jump across the platforms to the other side. He can now place a funnel on the side panel. Blue can jump across and land in the funnel. When he gets off you can both go through the door to the exit.

For the first section you need to place one light bridge to get to the red button and the other from the ledge you’re standing on to the other side. Press the red button to release gel and if you’ve placed the bridges correctly some should land on the light bridge. Jump from the gel to the opposite ledge and go through to the next area.
Both players should walk along the light bridge to the end. Blue places a portal at the end and on the panel to the left. As there’s a barrier to the right only Orange will be able to walk through. Orange walks through the barrier and places two more portals to send the bridge back in the shape of a horseshoe.
Blue needs to press the red button to release gel which will fall on the end of the bridge. Orange can jump up to the ledge. Orange places a portal under where the gel fell and the second over the first bridge to the left. Blue presses the red button again, this time gel will fall on the first bridge. Blue jumps up and both players head through the exit.

For this level you’ll need to splosh gel on both sides of the walls and bounce your way up. Place a portal under the gel dispenser and the other on one of the sloped panels. Push the button and let the gel cover one side. Move the second portal to the other white panel to cover the other wall. Blue should use portals to get up to the ledge, while Orange places a portal on the bottom sloped panel before going up to the ledge as well. Orange can place the second portal on the floor and both players can drop through. You’ll be bounced up the walls to the top.
The next area has a light bridge with a large barrier. Blue places a portal at the end of the bridge and the second opposite the barrier. Orange can walk over the bridge and through the barrier. Orange places a portal under the gel dispenser and then on the sloped panels above. Blue presses the red button to dispense gel onto the walls.
Blue can bounce up the walls and onto the roof. He’ll pass through a barrier so replace the portal under the gel dispenser and place the second on the sloped panel at the front of the building. Orange presses the red button so gel covers one side of the front wall.
Orange will need to bring the bridge down from the top right panel. Blue changes the second portal to the panel on the other side of the bridge. Press the red button again to gel up the bridge. Now Orange can bounce up between the bridge and the wall to the top of the building.

Blue places a portal under the gel dispenser and one opposite the ramp. Press the red button to dispense the gel. Orange runs up the ramp and is flung across to the other side. The red button here releases a cube but Blue will need to time his run up the ramp so he can grab the cube as it drops. Once you have the cube place it on the pressure plate and go through the door.
Head down the steps and drop off the walkway to the platform below. Go through the door to the next area. In this room there are two sets of crushers on either side. Place a portal under the gel dispenser and then on the panels opposite the crushers to gel up the ledges. Do this on both sides.
Also place gel on both of the back alcoves. Orange uses portals to get up to the back alcove and Blue places portals on the side walls. Blue can run through them and gather up speed. Once Blue has enough speed Orange changes one portal to the sloped panel opposite the crusher. Blue should slide under the crushers to the button on the other side. Repeat the process for Orange. Both players can now stand on the buttons together to get a cube. Place it on the plate to open the exit.

For this puzzle you need to use a cube to laser the turrets on the pillars before launching across to the exit. Use the panel on the left to shoot gel over to the long ramp.
Blue places a portal under the cube dispenser and another on the panel to the left. Orange portals over to the long ramp. Time the cube to drop as Orange is jumping across and Orange should be able to grab it. Blue changes portals to the platforms down below so Orange continues moving up and down. Orange will need to use the cube to deflect the laser and shoot the turrets.
Once the coast is clear change the portal to the sloped panel up and behind you. Orange should get shot across to the exit. Now Orange can set up the portals to shoot Blue across after he runs up the ramp. Go through to the exit.

This level consists of a single speed puzzle. There’s an alcove that you will use to gather up speed and a few panels on the wall that you need to dispense the orangle gel. Place a portal under the gel dispenser and then spread the gel around.
Blue places portals on both sides of the alcove so Orange can gather up speed. Blue quickly runs to press the red button that lifts up the platforms and runs back again. Place the second portal on the sloped panel. Orange will get flung out and land on the platforms. Blue needs to quickly run back and press the other red button to release a cube. Orange can grab it and drop down before the platform collapses.
Place the cube on the pressure plate to open the door to the exit.

This is the last and most difficult level of this section. When you go through the first door quickly press the red button to the right to drop blue gel on the turret just ahead.
Orange jumps through the barrier to the right and places a portal under the gel dispenser and another on the sloped panel. Blue places a portal on the sloped panel opposite the barrier and one on the back wall. Blue presses the red button to dispense the orange gel. It should spray out on the walkway. Blue changes the second portal to the other back panel and sprays the gel again. You should now be able to take a running jump across the gap.
Go through the barrier to the next section. Orange places a portal on the wall to the right and the second portal on the wall opposite, past the broken walkway. Blue goes through, walks down one set of steps and places a portal on the ground below on the left. Blue goes back through Orange’s portals and walks off the walkway to the left. Place a second portal on the panel far below and you’ll get flung across to the exit for this area. Orange follows Blue. Go through the door to the large chamber with the vault door.
Opening the vault requires a number of steps. Blue starts by placing a portal on the wall to the right and on the next wall along and goes through. Orange follows and both go through the barrier. Place a portal under the gel dispenser to the left and on the wall with the barrier. Press the button to dispense the gel. Change the second portal to the opposite wall and dispense gel again. The entire right side of the room should have gel on the floor.
Place a portal in the wall at the end of the gel and another in the center of the room. Take a run through the first portal and you’ll leap up in the air. While in the air place the second portal on a wall on the second level. Press the button to dispense a cube. Place a portal on the wall opposite the cube and another under the gel dispenser. Orange, or the player down below, dispenses the gel and the cube will come sliding down so Blue can pick it up.
Orange places portals on a nearby wall and on the other side of the room and both players go through. You’ll see the switches that both of you need to press. The grates are controlled by lasers which you need to turn off to lift the grates up so you can reach the switches. Place the cube at the top of the laser tunnel. Let it slide down and quickly run to the switches as the grates are lifted up. Pulling the switches together will open the door to the left side of the entrance.
Go through to the new area. Blue places a portal under the dispenser and on the roof above. Orange places a portal under the funnel and on the back wall. Press the button to dispense blue gel into the funnel. Blue steps through the barrier and places a portal on the back wall and the second on the back wall in the corner to extend the funnel out over the turrets. When the blue gel is above the turrets remove the funnel. The turrets will bounce all over the place and go offline.
Both players bounce along the side walls and jump up to where the turrets where. Blue places a portal on the panel on the ground and the second high up on the wall. Orange stands on the red button and places the second portal on the new panel to extend the funnel. Blue jumps into the his first portal in the ground and is flung across to land in the funnel. Ride the funnel to the other side and press the red button to drop blue gel at the end of the walkway down below.
Go back to the start of this area and take a running jump to reach the vault door. Only a human can enter so perform an emote to pretend to be human and the door will open. This ends the main co-op story but the DLC puzzles are included in the next section.
