Back to Tales of Monkey Island

Rescuing Elaine

After the cutscene run to the left to the mast and take the Voodoo Recipe stuck on the pole. Open your inventory and read the recipe. To enchant the cutlass you’ll need to spray it with an enchanted root beer.

Walk to the right and head up the stairs to the helm. To the right you’ll see the Monkey Casket of Kauai. Pick it up and examine it to find Root Beer.

Combine the Root Beer with the Breath Mints to make the beer fizzy. Now combine the Fizzy Root Beer with the Cutlass. Guybrush will mess it up and drop the root beer so you’ll need to find some more.

Call out to Elaine and she’ll drop the mast. You’ll crawl over to Elaine’s ship. To the left you’ll spot a plant called Chuck. Use the Cutlass on the plant to get some Roots.

Walk to the right and use the Roots on the barrel of Grog. Use Breath Mints on the Root Grog to enchant it. Use the Cutlass on the enchanted root grog to enchant the cutlass. Try out the Enchanted Cutlass on LeChuck and see what happens.

Flotsam Island

After the explosion you’ll drift ashore on Flotsam Island. Guybrush’s infected hand will punch the pirate. Walk to the left to meet Nipperkin who runs the Keelhauler Gazette. Talk to him about everything. He agrees to take you to Deep Gut if you get him some news stories for his newspaper.

To the left you’ll see Club 41. You can knock on the door but you’ll need a club card to enter. Continue to the left to see the Gazette and then the jail and court. Walk to the left and take the Flier from the pole. It’s and advertisement for a pirate hunter!

Walk to the left and look at the Glassworks. Knock on the door and speak to Crimpdigit. Ask him for the U-Tube. Walk to the left nad go across the bridge to the doctor’s house. Knock on the door and pick up the Flower Pot.

Walk back down and go to the left to see the Narhwal docked at the jetty. Talk to Reginald Van Winslow about everything. If you can knock him overboard you’ll become the captain. He also says he had a Club 41 card but lost it. Look at the underwear and socks on the clothesline to find the Club 41 Membership Card.

Go back and enter Club 41. Guybrush will cause a scene and make a news story for Nipperken. After the fight a grogatini glass will be outside the club. Pick it up to get a Grogatini Sword.

Jungle

Enter the jungle by the glassblowers shop. You’ll see a map of the jungle area. Click on the Entrance. Walk to the left to see D’Oro playing with some action figures/dolls. He collects porcelain power pirates and is missing one, the Dark Ninja Dave. Talk to him about everything and he’ll give you the Treasure Map.

Distract D’Oro during your conversation and then take a Pink Action Figure while he’s looking away. Go back to the dock and use the Pink Action Figure on the vat of ink to the right of the Gazette. Combing the Grogatini Sword and the Action Figure to make a Dark Ninja Dave.

Go back to the jungle to where D’Oro has his action figures. Take a look at the map and follow these instructions to find the X. If you take the right path you’ll hear bells. If you take the wrong path Guybrush will end up back at the well.

At the crossroads go north the well. Dip the Map in the well to start the treasure hunt. Go to the right to hear the bells and the snort of a boar. Take the Bombs from the ground. Go right again and you’ll hear the bells and chimps.

Take the upper right path to hear the buzzing of bees. Then take the bottom path to hear monkeys. You’ll be back at the crossroads with D’Oro. Take the bottom path, in front of D’Oro and you’ll hear the snort of the boar again. Take the upper left path to hear bees and you’ll be at the stone altar.

Take the path to the left and then the next path up. You’ll be at the X marks the spot. Put the Dark Ninja Dave in the hole.

Return to the jungle entrance and go and see D’Oro. Tell him about the map. He’ll run off and dig up the “treasure”, making more news for Nipperkin.

Seize the Ship

Go back to the docks and try to walk across the plank to the Narwhal. You’ll slip back down. Try to climb up the anchor chain and Wilson will throw down hot coals making a grease fire.

Use the fire to light a bomb and place it in the frilly underwear. Use the crank to send it across to the boat. Wilson will send it back again.

Light a bomb and place it in the frilly underwear again. This time click on the rope to climb across to Wilson. When he sends you back the bomb will get close to the ship and explode. This makes the third news story for Nipperkin and he agrees to take you to Deep Gut.

The Voodoo Lady

Nipperkin will give you a map of the jungle. Take a look at it to see footprints and the word “Deadline”. Go to the jungle entrance and take the path to the left where D’Oro was sitting. Go up to the well. Go up to the circular calendar on the ground. Take the top path to the hut, knock on the door and give the password “Deadline”.

Talk to the Voodoo Lady about everything. She’ll give you a Locket. Grab the Pyrite Parrot and Guybrush will teach it a phrase. When the Voodoo Lady throws it on the ground take the Pyrite Parrot. Take the Ancient Scroll in the Unbreakable Bottle and then leave the hut. Pick up the Weather Vane outside the hut and then return to the docks.

The Unbreakable Bottle

Talk to Crimpdigit about unbreakable glass and how to break it. He’ll bring out the Unbreakable Bottle Breaker and leave it on the bench. Go to your ship, the Narhwal, and use the cannon. The cannonball will get blown back and hit Crimpdigit. You can also fire out the Unbreakable Bottle but it doesn’t break and just get’s blown back. While you’re here grab the large Cheese just to the left.

Walk back to the glassblower and take the Unbreakable Bottle Breaker from the bench. Combine it with the Ancient Scroll in the bottle in your inventory. Your poxed hand won’t let you break it. Time to deal with your hand.

Marquis de Singe

Walk up the hill and knock on the door to the doctor’s house. He’ll let you in but end up locking you in a chair. You can use the A and D keys to turn around and the W and S keys to recline upwards and back.

Turn to the right, recline and pick up the Key. Turn to face the monkey and give the Key to the monkey so it can escape.

Turn to the left to face the projector and use the bell on the table. The monkey will jump onto the table, grabs a picture and places it on the projector. You’ll see the plans of the mouse contraption. Sit up and click on the right pedal to drop a banana. The monkey will run off to the mouse wheel. Use the left pedal to buzz the monkey. It will knock an x-ray of your hand onto the floor.

Turn forwards and pick up the X-Ray from the floor. Turn to the projector, recline and place the X-Ray on the box of pictures. Ring the bell to call the monkey and it will place the X-Ray on the projector. Give it a banana and the monkey will jump over to the skeleton. Press the left pedal to buzz the monkey and the keys will get stuck to its tail.

Ring the bell and the monkey will change the picture to a pirate. Give it a banana and it will sit by your shoulder. Grab the keys and you’ll escape.

The Ancient Scroll

Luckily De Singe numbed your poxed hand so it won’t cause any trouble for a while. Combine the Unbreakable Bottle Breaker and the Unbreakable Bottle in your inventory and the Ancient Scroll will fall out. The Ancient Scroll is blank!

Go to the courthouse and speak with the pirate Hemlock MacGee. Talk to him about everything and he’ll give you the Eye of the Manatee Lens. Use it on the Ancient Scroll to read the directions. While you’re here use the Cheese wheel on the carvings on the jail wall. You’ll need it later.

Go to the jungle entrance. Take the upper left path (behind where D’Oro was sitting) and you’ll find the stone altar. Use the Ancient Scroll on the altar to begin following the path.

Turn around and go back to the jungle entrance. Walk to the left to the crossroads. In your inventory use the Weather Vane on the magnifying glass. Guybrush will see which way the wind is blowing. Take the upper path.

At the well use the Flower Pot on the well. Use the Weather Vane again and take the path to the right.

Go back to the left and you’ll be at a different screen. Use the Weather Vane and it points to the left path. Take the path to the left.

At the calendar run around it a few times. I think you run around it clockwise. The colors should flash from red to yellow to green and the ground will shake. Use the Weather Vane and take the path upwards. You’ll arrive at the ancient portal.

The Ancient Portal

Use the Unbreakable Bottle Breaker on the blue crystal nose on the door. Take the small Door Face. Use the Pyrite Parrot on the hole in the door. Guybrush will leave it on the other side.

Return to the docks and go and see De Singe. Talk to him about “proof” that he’s up to no good and he’ll run off to the jungle to make sure you haven’t found his secret.

De Singe will go through the portal and you’ll follow him through to the other side. Guybrush will take the Ancient Tool and the Pyrite Parrot.

The Four Idols

At the wind control device use the Ancient Tool on the clamshell and the idols around the jungle will activate. The first one, the Mysterious Idol is just to the right. Take a look at it and place the Weather Vane on top of it. You have to turn the parts of the idol to recreate the face on the weather vane. Use the Ancient Tool on the clamshell just to the right of the idol. The first finger of the weather control device will move.

De Singe will arrive and use the blow gun to blow you to another location in the jungle. Walk to the right and you’ll see the jungle map. Click on the Enigmatic Idol and you’ll go there automatically.

Place the weather vane on top and spin the wheels to match the face on the weather vane. This one is missing a nose. Use the Flower Pot on the spot where the nose should be. Use the Ancient Tool on the clamshell and the second finger on the weather device will move. Once again De Singe will blow you to another place in the jungle.

Go back to the jungle entrance and use the map to go to the Strange Idol. This one is missing a wheel. Luckily we have the cheese wheel with the carvings on it. Place the cheese wheel on the idol and then the weather vane on top. Recreate the face and use the Ancient Tool on the clamshell. The third finger on the weather device will move. De Singe will blow you to another location.

Go back to the entrance and the take the upper left path to the altar. Go to the right and you’ll meet De Singe. Before he uses the blow gun use the U-Tube on the gun. He’ll blow himself into the Messed Up Idol. You can’t place the weather vane on top this time so instead turn the wheels and listen to De Singe’s voice. If it sounds pleasant you have the right carving. Do that to all three wheels and use the Ancient Tool on the clamshell. The fourth finger of the weather device will move.

Out to Sea

With all four idols activated the wind will start blowing out to sea again. After the cutscene you’ll be with Winslow on the Narhwal. He asks you where to go but your poxed hand won’t let you answer.

Walk up to the wheel and turn the wheel sharply. A barrel will run behind the cannon. Walk down and fire the cannon. The barrel will break open revealing a puddle of tar. Try to use the map and the hand will knock Guybrush into the tar. Now that the hand is stuck you can tell Winslow to go to the Rock of Gelato. Enjoy the final cutscene and get ready for Chapter 2: The Siege of Spinner Cay.
