The Hive

The Hive is a small area that can be accessed by breaking a secret wall at the entrance to Kingdom’s Edge. This is an optional area but does include a Grub, Mask Shard and charm. The map for The Hive is found with Cornifer in Kingdom’s Edge but the area is mostly linear so it’s almost impossible to get lost.

Head all the way across to the left, down and then all the way to the right to find a Bench suspended in bee’s wax. Break the wax to let the Bench fall so you can use it.

Run all the way to the right and up on one of the ledges you’ll find a Whispering Root tree which gives 20 Essence. Head up and to the left until you reach a large cavern. If you continue to the left you can break open another exit to the Kingdom’s Edge.

At the top of the large cavern if you head left you’ll find a few Geo Clusters. To the right if you stay towards the top of the cavern you’ll find the only Grub in this area. To reach it you’ll need to super dash off the right wall and then use the Monarch Wings to reach the entrance of the passage above.

At the bottom of this cavern, inside the wall to the left, you’ll spot a Mask Shard. The wall can only be broken by a Hive Guardian, the largest of the bees. Lure it close to the left side so that it charges into and smashes the wall. You can now jump in to pick up the shard. To the left is a shortcut through the caverns. Head to the right for the boss fight.

Hive Knight

The Hive Knight is a tough boss with 800 health and was designed for mid-level characters. He has mostly ground attacks so be prepared to jump over him when he slashes his spear or dashes forwards. The Hive Knight has a few different attacks. He will lunge with his spear, teleport and slash or leap into the air. He also might use a beenade where he shoots out 3 balls that each shoot out 8 spikes or the bee cannon where bees will fly out of his mouth towards the roof and then back towards the ground.

Once the Bee Knight has taken around 15 hits he will stagger, giving you a chance to heal up, hit him again or use the dream nail to gather soul. Once the Bee Knight has been defeated head around to the right to collect your reward, the Hiveblood charm that slowly heals you over time.
