Lost City of Tinnos
Objectives: Make your way through the lost city to find the 4 Oceanic Masks. You’ll also need to find the 2 Uli Keys before making your way to the level exit.
Items: 4 Oceanic Masks and 2 Uli Keys
Run through the door ahead which opens up to the excavation site as you get close. Run to the far left corner and climb up the ladder. Pull up into the tunnel and keep running around to the right until you find the Switch. Pull it to open a doorway down in the courtyard below.
Turn to the left and run down the corridor with the painted walls. Take the first right. You’ll notice a Power-Up Crystal in the distance.
Take a running jump to the pillar and then another running jump to grab onto the ledge in the corner. Pull up for the Power-Up Crystal and a Rocket. Drop back down to the courtyard below.
Run back to where you climbed up the ladder but this time jump up to the tunnel on the right. In an alcove to the right you’ll find the First Uli Key. Drop back down to the courtyard and run to the other side with the large doors. Use the key on the lock next to the blue gate.
Go inside, climb up the ladder and get off to the left. The Switch ahead opens the blue gate which takes you back to the area you’ve already explored. Instead turn to the left and go to the opening overlooking the courtyard. Drop down to the ledge below and pull the Switch on the wall to the left.
Climb back up the way you came, run forwards and slide down the slope at the end to the right. Follow the passage around and pull the Switch at the far end of a small room. You’ll get a vision of the 5-Button room.
Run back out to the courtyard through the 2 large doors which are now open. Looking out from these two doors run to the far left corner where there’s a small passage leading to the 5-Button room.
Climb up the ladder and push the buttons in this order from left to right. Button 1, Button 2 and Button 5. A gate will open up below. Drop down and run through the gate to a large broken bridge.
If you look up and to your left you’ll notice Wasps emerging from a cave. In total 21 Wasps will come out one-by-one so you can either shoot them all now or continue climbing and shoot them when they get close. The Wasps have glowing abdomens that will illuminate the invisible platforms above the bridge.
Run to the broken portion of the bridge and turn to the left. You’ll notice a crystal in a cave. Stand on the left edge and take a running jump to grab onto the edge of the cave. Pull up and grab the Power-Up Crystal.
Walk to the edge of the cave, looking out over the bridge and turn left. Forward jump up the slope to land on the partly covered rock ledge. Jump up to grab the rock ledge above and turn right. Take a running jump to grab onto the tan block and pull up. Turn diagonally to the right and take a running jump to land on an invisible block. You can see the block if the Wasps fly over it or by using a flare.
Walk to the edge and take a standing jump to the triangular block at the top of the bridge structure. Take another standing jump onto the invisible platform just in front of the wasps nest. You may want to finish off all of the wasps from here and then take a running jump into the small cave for Secret #1 and a Small Medipak, Desert Eagle Clips and Grenades.
Jump back to the invisible block and then the tan bridge structure the way you came. Jump across to the invisible block between the bridges and then to the other side. Hop backwards and drop down to the bridge. At the far end of the bridge down a small path to the left you’ll find a Small Medipak. Turn around and enter through a small tunnel in wall on the right side of the bridge.
Get your best weapon ready and follow the path around to a smaller bridge. As you approach the arch you’ll be attacked by 2 Super Mutants. Run up the steps and dodge past the 2 swinging burners. Run to the right and follow the steps up to the top. You’ll see a beam of light in the middle of a rectangular room. There are 4 passages leading out from this room, each taking you to a different area where you’ll find one of the four Oceanic Masks. You can do them in any order.
Air Element Gate
Facing the beam of light from the entrance take the path to the left. The gate will close shut behind you. Continue forwards into a maze. To find your way out and most of the pickups along the way just continue through the maze by always sticking to the left path.
First you’ll find some Uzi Clips. Continue following the path to the left and kill the Wasp. Just behind the wasp is a block with face carved into it. Push it forwards and grab the Flares and Small Medipak to the left.
Continue hugging the left wall to find some Shotgun Shells, Grenades and finally the ramp leading up to the exit. There is a faster path through the maze but you’ll miss all of these items.
At the top of the ramp you’ll see three spiked logs. Jump up to the ledge on either the left or the right. Jump sideways onto the other ledge to avoid the rolling spiked log and then jump back again. As you walk up another set of spiked logs will begin rolling down. Dodge them as before and then continue up the ramp to grab the First Oceanic Mask.
When you stand on the pedestal a door to the right will open. Run into the alcove and stay in the far right corner. The door will shut again, allowing you to get past. Drop down the hole to the left and swim through the tunnel. Pull out, run down the passage and take the first right. The blue gate will open automatically when you get close. This takes you to the room at the base of the beam of light. Later you’ll place all of the Oceanic Masks here.
Run up the stairs on the other side of the room back to the room with the elemental gates. This time continue forwards through the Earth Elemental Gate.
Earth Element Gate
Drop into the muddy water and follow the passage around to the right. Lara’s head will be just underwater but she’ll still be able to breath. Follow the muddy river all the way around until you can pull up onto some steps. Climb up to the third step and turn around. Jump over the small rock wall to the flat spot on the other side. Then take a standing jump onto the flat spot on the rock pillar in the middle.
Now turn to the left and take a standing jump across the mud river to the flat block on the other side just before the symbol etched on the wall. Pull up into the crawlway in the wall and drop down on the other side. Pick up the Small Medipak and pull the Switch to drop a block from the ceiling that will let you get secret #2 later.
Climb back through the crawlway and drop down into the muddy river. Get out at the steps as before. This time climb up the steps and go through the passageway. Follow the right wall until you come to a stone bridge. You may have to kill a Wasp or two along the way.
Run across the bridge all the way to the Second Oceanic Mask. Getting out is a little more difficult as an earthquake begins the moment you pick up the mask. Go back halfway across the bridge and walk out onto the ledge on the right. If you look down over the edge you may see a flat rock down below.
Hop backwards from the edge and take a standing jump, with action, to land precisely on the rock below.
If you get it wrong you’ll be crushed by falling rocks. You’ll still take some damage but you should survive if you are on full health. Turn to the left and take a standing jump to the rock ledge around the corner. Walk to the edge and take a running jump to the flat rock near the tunnel entrance.
Go through the tunnel. The gate won’t open so take the first right and jump to grab onto the ladder. Drop or climb down to the bottom. Run through the corridor and climb up the block at the end. Continue around and slide down the sloped blocks. Dodge past the 2 swinging burners and pull the Switch on the other side. This opens a trapdoor above the ladder at the end of the passage.
Climb up the ladder, turn around and wait for the trapdoor to close. You can run across it to the left and through the blue gate which takes you back to the room at the base of the beam of light.
Head up the stairs once more and this time go through the passage to the right of the beam of light.
Water Element Gate
Run to the end of the passage and then swan dive into the pool below. Swim through the tunnel at the base of the floor. You’ll come to a room with 4 tunnels behind a spinning blade wheel. Swim through the tunnel on the left and pull up for air.
Pull the Underwater Lever which opens a timed door in the right tunnel. Swim out and go through the right tunnel. Swim up to the air pocket at the very top to take a breath.
Now you’re in a room with 4 spinning blade wheels. There are some goodies on the ledges between the blades which you can grab if you’re desperate. Dive down and face towards the ledge with the Uzi Clips. Swim past the 2 spinning blade wheels and enter the tunnel to the top right. Pull the Underwater Lever. This opens a gate in the same wall at the bottom in the center.
Swim out and swim through the bottom, center tunnel. Get out of the water and grab the Third Oceanic Mask. Grab the Power-Up Crystal to the right and pull the Switch to open a gate back in the room with the 4 tunnels.
Dive into the water and swim through the tunnel. Continue straight past the 4 blades and go through the tunnel directly opposite. About halfway through you’ll come across another Underwater Lever. Pull it to open a gate just ahead. Continue swimming through the tunnel back to the 4 tunnel room.
This time swim through the bottom center tunnel. Follow the passage around and you’ll come to a shallow area where you can walk. Keep going and swim down the other side. Follow the small passage and then swim up a long shaft. Pull out and then pull the Switch at the top which drops you down a trapdoor to the passage below. Turn left and head out through the blue gate back to the room at the base of the light beam.
Run up the stairs and this time go through the last passage on the other side of the light beam.
Fire Element Gate
Take a running jump to the first block on the left and then a running jump to the block on the far wall. Turn right and take a running jump to grab the lower block along the rock wall.
Turn diagonally right and take a running jump onto the pillar with the Large Medipak and quickly backflip to the block you came from before the flame starts. Jump back up to the block and then a running jump to the exit on the left.
Walk forwards and a trapdoor will open up. Lara will slide down to a room with fire-breathing statues. Take a standing jump towards the center of the room to grab onto the first invisible block.
As the statue is about to stop breathing fire pull up and immediately take a standing jump to grab onto the second invisible block. Traverse a little to the left, pull up and take a running jump to grab the ledge on the right between the statues. Pull up and pull the Switch to turn off the last statue.
Turn around and take a standing jump to grab onto the side of the last invisible block. When the fire stops, pull up and take a running jump to the exit on the right. The blue gate will open automatically. Dodge the swinging burner and grab the Fourth Oceanic Mask.
Run up the passage on the right and go through the blue gate back to the room at the base of the pillar of light. Now that you have all of the masks you can place them in their receptacles now or wait until you have the second Uli Key.
Second Secret & Super Mutant Room
Run up the stairs and continue down the passage that is the entrance to this room. You’ll notice a block in the middle of the room that dropped when you pulled a lever earlier. Wasps will be spawning in this room if you haven’t dealt with them already.
Push the block forwards once, climb up it and jump to the ladder on the right. Climb up to the top and drop down the other side for Secret #2. Dodge the flaming burner and crawl through the passage to the Power-Up Crystal and Large Medipak. Return to the room with the Wasps and movable block.
When looking at the 2 swinging burners turn right and go to the end of the room. Follow the passage around to the left and pull the Lever to open the blue gate. Proceed slowly as you’ll unlock three gates with Super Mutants behind them. There’s one to the front, one to the left and one to the right. The front gate will open first, then the right gate and then the left. Use a powerful weapon such as the Rocket Launcher or MP5 and flip left and right while shooting to take them down.
Go through the left gate and pull the Switch to raise a platform in the Super Mutant room. Go back through the gate, turn left and climb up the grey block. Take a standing jump to the grey platform and run around to the right, jumping over the gap. Go through the crawlway to a switch room.
There is a burner swinging in front of you and one to the left. If you want some more loot take a running jump across and crawl through the passage on the left for Uzi Clips and Flares. Otherwise take a running jump across to the right passage and crawl through to pull Switch #1. This won’t do anything until you pull the next switch.
Take a running jump to the passage on the right, opposite the entrance. Crawl through and pull Switch #2. This will lower a ledge a bit further down. Crawl out, turn to the right and drop down three times. Turn around and take a running jump across to a ledge on the same level.
Take a standing jump onto the dirt block below. Turn to the right, step back and take a standing jump to the tan block. Drop down on the other side of it to the ground level and pull Switch #3.
Between the dirt block and the tan block that you just jumped to is a trigger that will release 14 Wasps. Either avoid that section of floor which runs from between the blocks to the other side of the room or trigger them now and kill them all so you can continue.
Climb back up the tan block on the left and take a standing jump to grab onto the higher dirt block. Turn left and take a standing jump to grab the grey platform. Turn left and take a running jump onto the platform next to the switch. Pull Switch #4 and quickly flip to the left onto the dirt block as the platform your standing on will collapse. It will also raise a platform elsewhere.
Turn left and take a standing jump to grab onto the grey platform. Pull up and take a running jump to the grey platform in the corner. Turn around and jump straight up to grab onto the higher platform. Climb up the block and then go through the crawlway to pull Switch #2 once more. It should be in the raised position.
Crawl back out and drop down 2 times to the right. Turn left and take a standing jump to the grey platform below the ledge with the swinging burner. Take one step back and take a standing jump to land on the grey ledge below the central walkway. Turn left, jump up to grab the underside of the walkway and monkey swing across to the other side. Drop down and pull Switch #5 to open the double doors on the ground level.
Monkey swing back to the grey platform, turn left and jump with action to land in the water below without taking any damage. Climb out and run through the double doors, making sure to jump over the floor area one block in front of the double doors to avoid triggering the Wasps if you haven’t killed them already.
Run through to a large open area with shallow pools. There’s also Wasps spawning in this area but you can largely avoid them.
Wade through the shallow pool and turn right. In the right corner, the same side as the entrance, you’ll find the Second Uli Key on a small ledge.
From the entrance head to the far left corner and climb up the ladder to the top. Get off to the left and pull the Switch to open the gate. Use the Second Uli Key on the lock just next to the gate. If you haven’t place the Oceanic Masks in the receptacles do so now.
Final Detour for Last Secret
By now the light beam should have stopped. If you drop down the hole in the center you’ll end the level but there’s one more secret to find!
Head back through the blue gate the way you came and safety drop down to the large area below. Exit out the other side of the room and go through the doors back to the Switch Room.
Pull the Switch on the ground floor, which was Switch #3 in the walkthrough above. Climb up the tan block to the left and then jump up to the dirt block. Turn around and take a standing jump to grab onto the grey platform. Pull up and take a running jump to grab the grey platform on the other side of the room. Pull up, turn around and jump up to grab onto the walkway above. Climb up the block on the right and run through the passage to Switch #6. Save the game here.
When you pull this switch a door will open at the base of the broken bridge but you only have 2 minutes to get there. You should have plenty of time if you follow these instructions.
Pull Switch #6, roll and sprint out of the passage. As soon as you drop down to the lower section of the walkway flip to the right once and then again. Jump forwards and run out of the double doors to the right.
Sprint through the open room with shallow pools to the far left corner and climb up the ladder. Get off to the left. Run through the room with the masks and go up the stairs. Continue forwards down the passage ahead and then at the bottom veer to the left to go past the entrance with the 2 swinging burners. Sprint all the way to the end of the bridge and drop down over the edge to the right.
If you’re lucky the door will still be open to Secret #3 where you can grab a Power-Up Crystal, Desert Eagle Clips and a Large Medipak.
Return the way you came to the room with the masks and drop down the hole in the center. Slide down the passageway to end the level.
