At the end of the Prologue Geralt lost his sword during the encounter with the dragon. If you don’t have Swords from importing a Save from the first Witcher you’ll need to craft a new one.

As soon as you jump off the boat at the Flotsam landing site check the Crate (#1) for a Diagram: Witcher’s Robust Silver Sword. Once you complete the first main quests for this area, A Rough Landing and By the Gods – Stringing Up Sods, visit the Blacksmith (#2), Berthold Candeleria, and ask him to craft the sword for you. Berthold also sells Silver Ore, a fairly rare crafting ingredient.
